This is how I imagine you would feel at this moment, like the rest of the world is frozen and it’s just you two; together for what would seem like forever.

We recently got back from our summer vacation up north! We spent each day of our trip in different cities, the first stop was Traverse City. We had lunch at Brew then went up the bay to Chateau Chanel Winery for a wine tasting.  Afterwards we went over to Two Lads Winery for the most delicious strawberry sangria I have ever had! On the way back in to town we stopped by the beach to enjoy the sun!

Last month we had our first anniversary as a married couple! We celebrated by spending two days in Detroit!
We started the day off by going to Eastern Market for their Sunday Street Market, which was full of local artists and food trucks! We tried Germack Coffee, saw Book of Mormon at the Detroit Opera House and caught a late lunch at Detroit Brewing Company. We had dinner at Cliff Bells while enjoying live music. We stayed the night at the Westin Book Cadillac, which was walking distance from everything we had planned.
The next morning we had lunch at The Hudson Cafe, then went over to Campus Martius, where we sat in the sand and enjoyed some adult beverages. We attempted to go to Astro coffee but they were closed. We ended up on a mini adventure seeking out Anthology Coffee.
Rain followed our arrival at the coffee shop so we forfeited Bell Isle and talked to the owner of the cafe. The space is still a work in progress, with everything being built and constructed by hand. Once everything is complete they will have proper advertising, until then, their customers are word of mouth. We found out not only do they roast their own coffee they supply to business around metro Detroit, including The Espresso Bar in downtown Ann Arbor!
Before heading for home we went for beer and pizza at Motor City Brewing Works, drooled over bikes at Shinola and wandered into some of my favorite gift shops.
I hate when people say bad things about Detroit because I couldn’t think of a better place to spend our special day. We only had to drive 30 minutes from home to have this fantastic adventure.
